How Futuur works (under the hood)

Futuur launched in 2018 as a global prediction market with both real-money and play-money modes. It's one of the few real-money markets that supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies — BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC and several others — for funding.

Futuur is operated offshore and restricts real-money trading from US users. Play-money mode is broadly available worldwide and serves as the on-ramp for new traders.

Fees

Futuur charges trading fees that vary by category, plus standard crypto-withdrawal network fees. Play-money mode is fee-free.

Liquidity & activity

Liquidity is moderate — well below Polymarket and Kalshi but spread across more cultural and international markets. Sports markets and global political contracts see the most depth.

Notable incidents

  • Periodic Crypto-rails maintenance can delay deposit/withdrawal flows.

How it differs from other platforms

Futuur fills the global-crypto, multi-coin niche. Versus Polymarket: less liquidity, more currencies, wider international topic mix. Versus Manifold: real money. Versus Kalshi: not US-legal for real money.

What to watch during a live event

For international sports and cultural markets, Futuur's biggest observable risk is crypto-rail congestion rather than API downtime. When Bitcoin or Ethereum mempool fees spike, withdrawal confirmations can lag hours behind the on-site "withdrawal complete" message.

Regional access rules change more often than API status. This page cannot tell you whether real-money mode is available from your jurisdiction — Futuur's own signup flow will.

Data & methodology

Checks run from your browser every ~45 seconds. Latency reflects your network path to the endpoint, not the server alone. Historical uptime is logged hourly via an independent worker (rolling 30-day window). Futuur's API lacks permissive CORS — browser checks confirm DNS / TCP / TLS only.

About this Futuur status mirror

Our Futuur mirror probes api.futuur.com v1 for the Markets and Categories feeds plus futuur.com for front-end reachability. Futuur's API also does not send permissive CORS headers, so browser probes confirm DNS, TCP and TLS from your network — a healthy signal here means the endpoint is reachable and TLS is valid, not that every category is trading.

Futuur operates two ledgers side by side (real-money and play-money). Real-money issues are typically confined to the crypto rails — deposits, withdrawals, network confirmations — which sit outside our probes.
